About Us
Arnie Campney, Principal and Project Manager
Arnie has been designing and constructing custom fireplaces, hearth and masonry projects for over 40 years. Previously managing and owning the largest masonry construction company in Southern Vermont, Arnie now focuses his attention to providing quality products and workmanship for high end residential projects.
His experience includes constructing a multitude of large masonry commercial projects over the years, including: restaurants (Applebee’s, Dunkin Donuts), stores (Walgreens, Staples), banks (Heritage Family Credit Union, Peoples United, Community Bank), resorts (Jackson Gore, Ledgewood, Treetop Condominiums, Solitude Village), recreation (Riley Rink in Manchester, Spartan Arena in Rutland), several schools (Dartmouth College, Mill River High School, Castleton University, Howard Dean Education Center in Springfield), and lead masonry repairs on historical restorations projects such as Middlebury College, Calvin Coolidge Museum & Wilder Horse Barn, and the Woodstock Library, and has constructed hundreds if not thousands of fireplaces over the years.
Arnie has worked extensively over the years with several architects, designers, engineers and the area's premier builders.
In addition, Arnie has been asked to serve as an expert witness in several masonry related legal cases.
Arnie can handle any size project and enjoys the design process for each hearth project.
Peggy Campney, Principal and Operating Officer
Peggy has been Arnie’s partner in business and in life for almost 20 years. With a background in construction management and several years in healthcare risk management, Peggy envisioned opening a retail showroom to showcase the couple’s design-construction-consulting expertise for new fireplace projects and makeovers, changing their business name to "Fireplace Specialties". Peggy oversees the administrative functions of the company and enjoys working directly with clients, incorporating design and function to make their fireplace the centerpiece of their home. Peggy has an accounting degree from Champlain College with a concentration in fraud examination and studied Interior Design at the New York Institute of Art & Design.
